Fastag: During the fiscal year, 8,66,971 complaints were made via the NHAI hotline number. 1,55,657 complaints have claimed that toll tax was taken out of their Fastag even if they did not travel.

Fastag: The Electronic Toll Collection System's (ETC) system of automatically deducting toll tax from Fastag has made it easier for drivers to travel on national highways. However, while this has helped the drivers, it has also led to instances in which the toll tax was not automatically deducted from Fastag. Over 8.5 lakh Fastag-related complaints were filed on hotline number 1033 during the most recent fiscal year. This indicates that almost 2400 complaints against Fastag were filed per day. Over 1.5 lakh complaints have been received stating that Fastag was automatically charged toll fee even though the travel had not yet been completed.

More than 1.25 lakh people have complained about paying tolls more than the set amount at the same time. The report for the fiscal year 2022–2023 has been made public by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' Indian National Highway Management Company Limited (IHMCL). The primary purpose of this company's formation was to handle complaints over the toll fee on national roads.

8.66 lakh complaints were filed using the hotline number.

According to the data, in the previous fiscal year, 8,66,971 complaints were sent to the NHAI hotline. 1,55,657 complaints have claimed that toll tax was taken out of their Fastag even if they did not travel. Sometimes the toll was taken without their permission. In addition, 1,68,060 cars were refused entry to the toll plaza barrier even with Fastag, and 1,26,850 drivers have reported that they were charged more than the established rates of toll tax via Fastag. Despite having an adequate bank balance, 35,580 road passengers had low balances in their Fastags or were on the Fastag blacklist.

100% of concerns are resolved

In its report, IHMCL asserts that in the fiscal year 2022–2023 all 1033 complaints were settled, with 100% of them. This indicates that 8,66,971 complaints in total were settled. Experts state that there is a mechanism for collecting double toll tax as a punishment from the road passenger in the event of a low balance in Fastag or being blacklisted. 1,68,060 Fastag-equipped cars were unable to pass the toll plaza barrier at the same moment. The car is deemed to be lacking Fastag in this case, and double tax is due.
