Economic development, according to Jayant Acharya, is our main motivator since it accounts for a large portion of India's steel consumption.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is'missing' from his Delhi residence after an ED search related to the JSW Steel Joint land scandal.

On January 29, the Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at three locations, including Soren's residence in Delhi's Shanti Niketan.Extra care was taken. Nothing of the Jharkhand CM could be located, even after a thorough search that lasted till late at night.

Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, is said to have vanished after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a land fraud case against him on January 29.

After failing to find Soren at his Delhi residence, the central investigating agency turned the Delhi Police for assistance in tracking him down.

Media reports state that late at night, Hemantji fled on foot, donning slippers and a sheet over his face, from his Delhi home. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), State BJP President Babulal Marandi said that Special Branch security officer Ajay Singh, who had traveled with him to Delhi, was also absent.

Three locations, including Soren's home in Shanti Niketan, Delhi, were searched by the ED on January 29. The Jharkhand CM was unable to be located despite the hunt lasting till late as night. But after the ED team left, something remarkable happened: they found his BMW, which was registered under a Haryana license plate, which gave the inquiry a new angle.

Numerous media sources state that on January 29 at about 2:30 pm, Soren and a member of his security detail left his Delhi house. Right now, he has both of his cell phones off. It was discovered by the ED that Soren had abruptly canceled his planned 6 p.m. chartered flight to Ranchi. The investigative agency has asked for more watchfulness at Delhi's borders in reaction to this. In what is likely the first instance of a hunt for a serving chief minister, authorities have now extended their investigation to neighboring states.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Soren's party, refuted allegations that he was "absconding" in a statement. The party referred to the current probe as "political witchcraft" and demanded that Soren willingly agree to meet with the investigative team on January 31.

Later that evening, Soren is said to have emailed the ED to let them know he was available to meet with them on January 31 at 1 pm at his official Ranchi house.

On January 27, Soren had departed from Ranchi for Delhi. On January 29, his party said that he had left for personal reasons and would be back shortly. But according to the Jharkhand branch of the BJP, the chief minister has been "absconding" for the last eighteen hours because he is afraid of ED action.

In relation to the matter, the CBI had already questioned Soren on January 20 at his official Ranchi house. He was then sent another summons by the ED, which requested that he confirm that he would be available to be questioned on January 29 or January 31.
