In August, Zee announced to stock markets that it had inked a strategic licensing deal with Disney to acquire from the American company the right to broadcast certain International Cricket Council TV shows for four years beginning in 2024.


According to two persons with direct information, Zee Entertainment has informed Walt Disney that it does not plan to go further with a contract to pay around $1.4 billion for the cricket TV rights it purchased from the US company.


In August, Zee announced to stock markets that it had inked a strategic licensing deal with Disney to acquire from the US company, which has maintained the streaming rights, confident International Cricket Council TV broadcast rights for a four-year period beginning in 2024.


Disney refused to comment, while Zee did not return inquiries for comment.
