Makar Sankranti Bank Holiday: In Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, and Assam, banks are closed today. On the 22nd, the day of Pran Pratistha at the Ram temple, banks in Uttar Pradesh will be closed.


List of Bank Holidays: As per the holiday schedule of several states, banks are closed today, January 15, in honor of Uttarayan Punyakal/Makar Sankranti Mahotsav/Maghe Sankranti/Pongal/Magh Bihu in Karnataka, Orissa, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, and Assam. Thiruvalluvar Day is on Tuesday, January 16, and banks in Tamil Nadu will be closed. Chandigarh is having a bank holiday on Wednesday, January 17. In observance of Uzhavar Thirunal, banks in Tamil Nadu will be closed on this day.


Bank holiday on January 22: In honor of the dedication of the Lord Ram idol at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh has proclaimed January 22 to be a public holiday. On this day, all government offices will be closed. A bank holiday in accordance with the Negotiable Instruments Act of 1881 will also be observed on the 22nd. All private banks, including HDFC Bank, ICICI, Axis, and Bandhan Bank, would be closed on this day in addition to government institutions including SBI, PNB, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, and Bank of Baroda. There will be ATMs and internet banking.


Holidays only from 21st to 28th: Next week is packed with holidays. Because of the weeklong holiday, banks will not be open on Sunday, the 21st. On January 22, banks will be closed in Uttar Pradesh because of the Pran Pratistha at the Ram temple, and on January 22, banks will be closed in Manipur because it is Imoinu Iratpa.


The Reserve Bank of India's Holiday Calendar 2024 states that on Tuesday, January 23, in observance of Manipur Gaan Nagai, banks would be closed. Will stay open in other states, however. Following this, on Thursday, January 25, in honor of Thai Poosam/Mohammed Hazrat Ali's birthday, there will be bank holidays in Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. Republic Day is Friday, January 26, and all workplaces, including banks, nationwide will be closed on that day. Because January 27 is a second Saturday and January 28 is a Sunday, banks will stay closed.
