Ahmed Al Shaikh relocates to the Middle East for business, while Jagrut Kotecha will oversee PepsiCo in India.

Food and beverage giant PepsiCo said on Friday that Ahmed Al Shaikh, who has been in charge of the Middle East business unit, would step down as CEO and be replaced by Jagrut Kotecha in the India division.

Shaikh will be replaced as CEO of PepsiCo India by Kotecha, who currently serves as the firm's chief commercial officer for Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia (AMESA), according to a statement from the business.

By March 2024, Ahmed Al Sheikh, who has overseen PepsiCo India's operations for over seven years, is expected to step down from his present position and assume new duties.

The statement said, "As part of a series of leadership changes at AMESA, this leadership shift, reflecting PepsiCo's dynamic and creative global strategy, has been carefully prepared and presented to India office workers yesterday (Thursday). I made the trip."

According to Eugene Willemsen, chief executive officer of PepsiCo for Africa, the Middle East, and South Asia, the business still values India as a major market that is crucial to our overall strategy.

Ahmed has been instrumental in our business's transformation over the last six years, spearheading innovation and guiding the group through difficult situations. "Under his direction, innovative products and numerous community-oriented projects have been introduced, and I am excited to collaborate with him in his new role."

"We will continue to scale greater things of success with our Indian consumers under his leadership," he added, extending his welcome to Kotecha. In 1989, PepsiCo, a leading food and beverage company in India, entered the market with brands including Pepsi, Lay's, Kurkure, Tropicana 100%, Gatorade, and Quaker.

For the fiscal year that ended on March 31, 2023, PepsiCo India Holdings' income from sales of goods and services on a consolidated basis climbed by 28.47 percent to Rs 8,127.07 crore.
