Following Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to forego his third planned appearance before the ED on January 3, rumors surfaced late yesterday night characterizing the investigative agency's summons as "motivated".

On January 3, late at night, Delhi ministers Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj voiced their worries, claiming to have heard rumors that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence will be raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) early the following day. There have been worries raised about Kejriwal's potential arrest.

Atishi, the minister of law and PWD in Delhi, wrote at 11:50 p.m. on January 3: "There are rumors circulating that the ED will search Arvind Kejriwal's home this morning. Arrest might be a possibility." The identical details were provided in Hindi by Delhi Health Minister Bhardwaj two minutes later. He said, "It has been confirmed that ED will have reached Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's house tomorrow morning as well as may arrest him."

Following Kejriwal's decision to cancel his third planned appointment with the ED on January 3, reports surfaced late yesterday night characterizing the investigative agency's summons as "motivated".

The chief minister of Delhi said that the summons was a ruse to prevent him from participating in the campaign in the run-up to the parliamentary elections. He excused himself from appearing before the agency, citing his hectic schedule between supervising Republic Day preparations and the Rajya Sabha elections.

Kejriwal chastised the ED in a five-page reply, claiming that the summons amounted to "fishing and roving interrogation". "The non-disclosure and non-response method taken by you, as the nation's preeminent investigative agency, cannot withstand the test of law, equity, or fairness. It's like you're taking on the roles of executioner, juror, and judge with your insistence. concurrently," it declared.

On the two previous occasions that Kejriwal had been called, he had evaded interrogation for a variety of reasons. He first used the assembly elections as his excuse for his hectic schedule, and then he gave the Vipassana retreat as an explanation for his absence from the agency.

Kejriwal was harshly chastised by the BJP for consistently dodging ED summonses. The party emphasized that any "corrupt leader" working under Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be held accountable for his transgressions. The saffron party also questioned why, if Kejriwal believed the case against him was politically motivated, he did not pursue legal action.
