7th Pay Commission: Happy New Year! The government has released additional benefits for pensioners

For the New Year, lakhs of retirees and family pensioners received a substantial gift from the Central Government. It has been declared that these seniors would get Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) for their medical care. Pensioners will be able to pay for their everyday medical bills thanks to this.

Seventh Pay Commission: On New Year's Eve, the Central Government presented a substantial gift to thousands of retirees and their families. It has been declared that these seniors would get Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) for their medical care. Pensioners will be able to pay for their everyday medical bills thanks to this. Pensioners residing in areas not covered by the Central Government Health system (CGHS) or any other health system would be eligible for this stipend. Pension and allowance will be the only things provided.

As per the directive of the Central Government's Director of Personnel Department, Ravinder Kumar, retired personnel would get FMA under the National Pension System (NPS). Together with the pension, the bank or pension department will provide a certain medical allowance.

What is the amount of your allowance?

Family pensioners' Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA) was raised by the Central Government from Rs 100 to Rs 300 in May 2014. In contrast, FMA of Rs. 500 was formerly provided to Defense Department retirees; in August 2017, this amount was raised to Rs. 1000.

What requirement did the state put in place?

The retired worker has to have contributed to NPS for ten years.

Years of service won't be taken into account if an accident or death leaves a person disabled.

Every year in November, pensioners receiving FMA will provide a digital or hard copy life certificate.

The pensioner will begin receiving medical allowance in January after the submission of the life certificate in November.

The death certificate and notification of the bank or pension office by the family members are required in the event of a pensioner or family pensioner's passing.

How is the bank going to pay?

During the first week of March, banks will provide an allowance for three months. The period for this allowance is December through February.

June is when the medical allowance for March through May is paid.

On the other hand, September is when the stipend for June through August is paid.

The first week of December will see the payment of the allowance for the months of September through November.

What is the fixed medical allowance?

Pensioners who reside outside of the areas covered by the Central Government Health Service Scheme are eligible for Fixed Medical Allowance (FMA). This indicates that no nursing homes or hospitals are covered by CGHS.

Why does this allowance come from the government?

After retirement, the Central Government provides a set medical payment to its workers for ongoing care. This allows for the treatment of illnesses that don't need hospitalization. For this reason, the government provides this stipend.
