Why is it important to us to rent for life?

Why is it important to us to rent for life?

Two couples provide conflicting explanations for their decision to choose a lifetime rental over purchasing the house.

We would want to emphasize that this is their decision before we get started. He made it clear that he is not preaching and that not everyone would agree with his lifestyle or decisions. We thus expect your disagreement, but we beg that you hold off on criticizing them too soon.

1. Family is found at home. I came to understand that home is where your family is after I temporarily left my wife to work abroad. Thus, we are not required to refer to any specific location as our home. We are free to travel anywhere we like as long as the whole family resides there.

I grew up in a big joint family and seen a lot of uncles and aunts pass away. All we need is enough money and the love and devotion of our family members to be content in the evenings of our lives. See also: The Importance of Relationship Investment in Successful Retirement Planning.

Effective retirement planning is crucial for having enough money, and we utilized the robo-advisor service from Freefinacle to help with it. Speaking of relationships, in this day and age, our sole sources of physical and emotional support throughout sickness are our spouse and children.

Where our children work and study is not within our control. This is determined by their circumstances and desire. While we are in Bengaluru, our son works in New Delhi. We want to relocate closer to her in the near future, perhaps into a retirement community or a leased apartment.

We had scheduled this to take place in two separate places for UG and PG once he graduated from school. Thus, we think renting makes a lot of sense. Above all, renting made it possible for us to increase our investments and create a larger corpus for our retirement and our son's future.

Purchasing a home merely to leave it close to his son's residence made no sense. Fortunately, our kid excelled academically and we saw early on that he would go far (virtually!). Thus, we chose to concentrate on investing rather than purchasing real estate. We don't say this is the greatest thing. All we did was that. Furthermore, we do not assert that it is the best decision for us. It seemed plausible so far. As always, the future is unpredictable.

Changes in climate! I know you're going to scoff, but my wife and I have been quite concerned about climate change. We think that throughout the next 10 years, severe weather events will dominate the headlines, and that things will only become worse in the ten years that follow.

For this reason, we think it's best to have a somewhat itinerant lifestyle. Move to a different city for a few months, leave a place where there's a chance of heat, snow, or rain, etc. Many of you may find this absurd, but we firmly believe that inert survival will provide significant challenges in the years to come. We would want to attempt, but it's possible that we can only flee, not hide.

Of course, the only reason we can afford to think this way is because we are childless and have no intention of having children in the future. So, for the majority of individuals, it won't work. Furthermore, the majority of our work is done online for both of us, and when it's not, it requires travel. We are thus used to living a mobile lifestyle.

How do you feel about these two opposing justifications for not purchasing a home?
