In Budget 2023–24, the education ministry received Rs 1,12,899 crore, which is 13% higher than the revised projection for 2022–2023 years.


More funds were set aside to support new projects including higher education, digital and physical libraries, professional development, and teacher training in ICT deployment.

In the Budget 2023–24, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that a National Digital Library for Children will be established to provide high-quality books to everyone, in an effort to close this disparity.


The Finance Minister suggested making books accessible across all platforms, languages, genres, educational levels, and geographic locations.


States would be encouraged to establish physical libraries at the ward and panchayat levels as well as to provide the digital infrastructure needed to access the materials of the National Digital Library.


In order to promote literacy and foster a love of reading in kids, it is also suggested that NGOs get involved. Financial regulators are not the only groups that have been encouraged to share information in order to promote financial literacy.


In July of this year, a new national digital library site was introduced, boasting more than 80 million users and over 1 billion pieces of information. Books, articles, audiobooks, theses, and films that are appropriate for users of various educational levels may be found in digital libraries.


Local language interface support is also provided. To search or peruse the information, one may choose the preferred language.
