Delhi Airport Security System: To implement the scanner, BCAS is in discussions with airport operators. The X-ray equipment and full body scanner were anticipated to be operational by May.

Full Body Scanner: By May 2024, Delhi Airport should have a "Full Body Scanner" installed. By May of the following year, computer tomography X-rays may also be initiated. DG Zulfikar Hasan of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) said that several airports are delaying the installation of "full-body scanners" and "CTX scanners" owing to provisioning concerns. The deadline for commissioning both pieces of equipment was December 31st.

anticipated to begin at the airport in Delhi by May

Hasan said at a news conference that there are a few problems with the provisions. Airport operators and BCAS are having discussions about the scanner's implementation. "We hope to install the X-ray machine and full body scanner by May," he said. According to Hasan, both should be running at the Delhi airport by May of the following year. It was suggested by BCAS last year that the airport install a scanner using computer tomography equipment.

Following the installation of a CTX (Computer Tomography X-ray) scanner, travelers won't need to take electronic items out of their bags to go through airport security. Passengers are now required to remove their electronic devices and place them in a separate "tray" during the airport security check. According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Civil Aviation, enhancements have been made to the airport entrance, immigration counter, and security to improve the travel experience for travelers.

"Full body scanner": what is it?

This kind of technology has been placed for security reasons. It finds objects concealed inside a person's body. Even clothing worn on the body does not need to be removed for this. The Delhi Airport's X-ray-based scanner will facilitate security inspections. At train stations, airports, and other public locations, full body scanners are utilized for security checks.
