December 31, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister, has ordered government agencies to stop buying gasoline and diesel cars as of January 1, 2024. According to the Chief Minister, there are now 185 government and 185 private e-vehicles in operation. 2,733 were registered in the state as a result of the government's persistent efforts.
"Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has directed every department in the government not to purchase diesel or petrol-powered vehicles from January 1, 2024," read the announcement.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu reportedly ordered government agencies to stop buying gasoline and diesel cars as of January 1, 2024.
This will encourage the use of e-vehicles and assist the state in realizing its vision of "Green and Clean Himachal." It states that the state cabinet's consent is required before any department may purchase gasoline or diesel cars. "In an initiative aimed at accomplishing the goal of 'Green as well as Clean Himachal', Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has instructed any government agency not to purchase diesel or petrol vehicles from January 1, 2024," stated a statement.
According to the Chief Minister, the state now has 2,733 private e-vehicles and 185 government e-vehicles registered, as a result of the administration's persistent efforts. He said, "In Himachal, our administration is heavily pushing e-vehicles. The transportation department is the first agency to switch to electric cars for its fleet of official vehicles, and other agencies will need to do the same." He promised that all departments will make sure that e-vehicles gradually replace their traditional fuel-powered vehicles. Sukhu said, "The use of e-vehicles not only represents a new beginning but also demonstrates the government's commitment to environmental protection.”
