On January 1st, the rules changed, requiring customers to present their e-KYC when buying new SIM cards. Only telecom providers will do e-KYC at the same time. The remaining guidelines for accepting new mobile connections won't change.


The regulations governing the purchase of new SIM cards will alter on January 1, 2024, the first day of the new year. When buying new SIM cards, clients will now need to provide an e-KYC, according to the Department of Telecommunications. Only telecom providers will do e-KYC at the same time. The remaining guidelines for accepting new mobile connections won't change, however. It has not undergone any alterations in any sort. As of right now, the documentation needed to purchase a SIM card has been validated.


Additionally, it is required to verify SIM card vendors: The Department of Telecommunications said that biometric verification would be used to confirm the identity of those buying new SIM cards. This regulation is now required for all businesses, according to the Department of Telecommunications. The SIM card vendors must also have their verification completed in accordance with the new regulations. Let us inform you that while the government had declared the new regulations in August, they had not yet been put into effect.


Total prohibition on KYC based on paper: The Department of Telecommunications has issued directives in this respect. Preventing SIM fraud and advancing national digitization are the goals of e-KYC. Paper-based KYC will no longer be permitted under the new regulations. This procedure is costly and time-consuming. Telecom businesses' expenditures would also decrease if this is prohibited.
