LPG Price: The Central Government denied making any declaration indicating that a cheap LPG cylinder will be available for Rs 450

LPG Price Update: LPG cylinders are available for Rs 603 for PM Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries and Rs 900 for other users.

LPG Cylinder @450: The government said in the Rajya Sabha during the current winter session of Parliament that it does not plan to provide LPG cylinders at Rs 450 in Rajasthan. The Indian government has not released any such information. Rameshwar Teli, the Minister of State for Petroleum, made these remarks in answer to a query during Rajya Sabha Question Hour.

A cylinder of LPG at Rs 450?

Javed Ali Khan, a member of the Rajya Sabha, questioned the administration about its recent announcement to provide LPG cylinders in Rajasthan for Rs 450. In addition, he questioned the authorities about if the federal government, including Uttar Pradesh, is thinking of offering LPG cylinders for Rs 450 nationwide. The Minister of State for Petroleum, in response to both written queries, refuted any such declaration and said that the Government of India has not made any announcement about the provision of LPG cylinders for Rs 450 in Rajasthan.

As stated in the manifesto, the BJP

Now, the question is where the problem of providing an LPG cylinder for Rs 450 originated. In actuality, five states—Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Majoram—have just had assembly elections. The centrally-ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of Rajasthan had pledged in its platform to provide PM Ujjwala Yojana recipients cylinders for Rs 450. The BJP has included a pledge in its platform to provide cylinders for Rs 450 even in Madhya Pradesh. In addition, the Bharatiya Janata Party has been successful in establishing the administration in Chhattisgarh, apart from these two states. Ever since the BJP took power in these three states, there has been much discussion on whether the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana recipients in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, as well as the rest of the country, would get LPG cylinders at Rs 450.

The BJP's pledge was brought up in Parliament.

The Parliament is now hearing the reverberations of the BJP's assembly election pledge. In such a scenario, it is reasonable to wonder whether the BJP was able to establish the government in these states by offering an LPG cylinder for Rs 450. How long will the BJP administrations in these two states keep their word on this promise? Due to their many inconsistencies, the plans and pledges that the BJP used to win support and seize power in three states will not be so simple to carry out.

LPG at Rs 603 for PM Ujjwala beneficiaries

For Rs 603, the Central Government now provides cylinders to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana recipients. The BJP has pledged to provide cylinders at Rs 450 to PM Ujjwala Scheme participants in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. In this case, it is unclear whether the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala plan in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh would have to pay Rs 450, while the recipients in other states—including those governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party—will have to pay an additional Rs 153 and Rs 603 for refilling the cylinder.
