Indian government warns Samsung owners to upgrade their cellphones right now

Government Notice to Samsung Users: Users of Samsung cellphones have received a warning from the authorities and are being advised to upgrade their devices right now.

The government has issued a warning to the millions of Samsung smartphone users. This warning has been issued by the government for a subset of Indian Samsung smartphone owners. Users of such cellphones have been requested to update them right away.

Extra caution for these users

Due to security vulnerabilities, Samsung smartphone owners have been urged to upgrade their devices by the Computer Emergency Response Team of India, or CERT-In. This notice is intended for owners of Samsung devices running Android versions 11, 12, 13, or 14. According to the agency, there are issues with Samsung phones running Android 11, 12, 13, and 14, which makes it possible for an attacker to access your phone without your knowledge.

Be careful while following official advisories.

The CERT-In alert falls under the high-risk warning category. This implies that you should not disregard this warning in any way if your Samsung smartphone is running Android version 11 to 14. All of these individuals need to upgrade their handsets and respond to the government notice right now. If not, someone might steal private data from your smartphone.

Attackers are capable of doing this.

As per the warning, the attacker may get past security measures and steal confidential data because of vulnerabilities in devices running the corresponding version of Android. The targeted system may also be subject to arbitrary code execution by the attacker. As a result, a number of severe issues might occur, including as memory corruption, face recognition software, authorization issues with the AR Emoji app, and Knox feature access control.

These gadgets carry some danger.

CERT-In claims that if an attacker manages to get their hands on a device, they will be able to send broadcasts, read the AR Emoji sandbox data, modify the system clock, and get beyond Knox Guard lock. Can access any file, indeed. A number of well-known devices are impacted by this vulnerability, including the Galaxy S23 series and the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5.
