December 22, New Delhi On December 22, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) announced that it has inked a contract with the government of Haryana to establish the second Japan-India Manufacturing Institute (JIM) in the state. The new institution is scheduled to open its doors the following year and be constructed at Kansala, Rohtak, Haryana.


The car giant said in a statement that the current ITI Kansala, which spans five acres, would be upgraded to JIM with an expenditure of Rs 5.8 crore. According to the statement, JIM, Kansala has land and a facility supplied by the Haryana government; the firm will provide the equipment, training materials, qualified professors, and run the institution for 15 years.


According to MSI's Executive Director of Corporate Affairs, Rahul Bharti, "The passenger vehicle industry in India is currently the third largest and fastest-growing industry globally." To keep up with this increase, it is our duty to develop human ability to equal industrial capacity." According to him, preparing the next generation of talent for the workforce would contribute in achieving India's goal of becoming self-sufficient.


Currently, MSI operates three JIMs: one in Haryana and two in Gujarat. With the development of the second institution in Rohtak, the nation will have four of these institutes overall.
