In the next four to five years, the handloom and handicrafts industry is projected to get an investment of Rs 1,000 crore, a senior official from the Union Textiles Ministry said on Thursday.

There are over 35 lakh craftsmen in the nation, according to Amrit Raj, development commissioner (handicrafts), textile ministry, and the government hopes to support this industry further.

'HGH India', the biannual trade fair for home, gifts, and household items at the India Expo Mart and Center in Greater Noida, is where he made the statements.

"At the DC Handicrafts office, we invest around Rs 300 crore in this industry annually. It's a massive industry. While we do our best to provide end-to-end help, our main priorities are the design and marketing aspect. Because the craftsmen are knowledgeable and talented, we also strive to incorporate innovation into our work," Raj said.

The only difficulty is knowing how to adapt it to the changing demands and trends of the modern customer in order to make it more marketable. On average, this means that an additional Rs 1,000 crore must be raised throughout the following four to five years."I hope there's investment in the region," he said.

According to the source, the federal government is focusing on the handloom's design and India's legacy of handicrafts.

As a mediator between up-and-coming designers and accomplished crafters, we provide the artisans with training and support so they can sell their goods more effectively.

Our artists possess a wealth of artistic talent and longstanding skills. In order to cater to the new trends and rising customer, we are now reimagining classic designs," he said.

The trade event is including over 100 new exhibitors, many of which are debuting for the first time from North Eastern states, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Jodhpur, Indore, Chennai, and Kochi, as well as from Italy and Turkey. As stated in a formal statement.
