Citizens of a nation do not need to apply for a visa in order to enter that nation if it permits visa-free travel. To enter the nation, a legitimate ID, such as a passport, is necessary.

Following Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, Indonesia is thinking of allowing Indian nationals entrance without a visa. The Indonesian Tourism Ministry said in a statement that this decision might be granted in as little as one month. This move was made by Indonesia in an attempt to attract Indian visitors.

Sandiaga Uno, Indonesia's minister of tourism, reportedly told Reuters on Thursday that he has been told by the government to think about allowing visitors from certain nations admission without a visa. To promote tourism and the economy, Indonesia is thinking of allowing nationals of 20 nations—including the US, China, Australia, India, South Korea, Germany, Britain, and France—to enter the country without a visa.

Prior to the Covid epidemic, more than 16 million international visitors visited Indonesia in 2019, according to government statistics. In addition, from January to October of this year, Indonesia welcomed about one crore international visitors. When compared to the same time last year, there have been almost 124 percent more visitors.

The decision made by Indonesia, the biggest Muslim nation in the world, is significant since Malaysia, another Muslim-majority nation, just declared that visitors from China and India would not need a visa to enter the country. Indonesia had introduced the Golden Visa earlier in September in an effort to attract international nationals and business investment.

Thailand also offers access without a visa

Prior to Malaysia, Thailand, a neighboring country, had also used a similar measure to encourage tourism inside the nation. Thailand's economy depends heavily on tourism, but the country's travel industry has taken a serious hit as a result of COVID. Thailand has begun granting visa-free entrance to nationals of other nations, including China and India, in an effort to boost the travel and tourist industry.

Early in November, Thailand stated that admission was free of visas. From 10 November 2023 to 10 May 2024, Indian visitors are granted 30 days of entry without a visa.
