Employee Dearness Allowance Increase: In honor of Diwali, the government had declared that central workers will get a raise in dearness allowance. The government raised workers' DA from 4% to 46% under the terms of the Seventh Pay Commission. Significant news is about to be announced about workers receiving salaries based on the Fifth and Sixth Pay Commissions. Additionally, the government has raised these workers' dearness allowance (DA).

How much did the DA increase?

The current 221% to 230% DA on base pay for workers of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) covered by the Sixth Pay Commission has been enhanced. That indicates a 9% rise this time around. Employees will begin receiving the revised dearness allowance rate on July 1, 2023. The government has also raised the DA for workers covered by the Fifth Pay Commission. Two categories have resulted in an increase in the DA for these workers.

a 15% rise

These workers did not get the advantage of combining their base pay with 50% of their DA. These workers' current 462% DA has been raised to 477%. In addition, the current DA rate has raised from 412% to 427% for those workers who have benefited from the 50% DA merge with base pay. In this manner, the 15 percent DA increase benefits both employee groups.

In October, central workers' DAs were raised by 4% under the terms of the Seventh Pay Commission. At that point, the government raised the workers' DA from 42 percent to 46 percent. The new rate went into effect on July 1. 65 lakh pensioners and 49 lakh central workers profited from this government action.
