Details here. Infosys and many other large corporations are reducing their yearly promotions and increments

Promotions and Increments: Workers in the IT industry have also been impacted by the recession. Businesses are not interested in recruiting new staff members, nor have they offered many workers raises or promotions this year.

Promotions and Increments: Employees in the IT industry have been greatly affected by their concern of a worldwide recession. This year, a lot of large companies—Infosys included—have raised pay and decreased the frequency of promotions. Infosys, a Bengaluru-based company, decided to promote people and raise salaries later this year. However, the fact that their pay grew by less than 10% this year left the staff unhappy. Together with the wage raise letters, Infosys also expressed gratitude to the staff for their assistance during challenging circumstances.

No desire to bring on fresh employees

Bengaluru is home to the headquarters of several large IT businesses from both Europe and America, according to an Economic Times investigation. About 60% of IT industry spending goes directly toward payroll. This year, IT businesses have increased salaries little to cover this enormous price. In addition, fewer promotions have been given out. Numerous reports surfaced recently indicating that IT organizations are not even expressing interest in recruiting new employees this year.

New hires' salaries are unchanged

This recessionary tendency has persisted for almost a full year. Companies do, however, believe that the recession will end in the next six months. However, until then, the businesses are taking care to prevent things from becoming worse. There has been no pay increase for new hires this year.

Pay rise cut in half, and promotions ended

An IT worker claims that corporations raise salaries by around 20 percent annually. A person receives a 50% pay rise upon promotion. This year, a lot of promos have been discontinued. Additionally, only a 10 to 20 percent pay increase was provided to individuals who received promotions.

People who switch employment also lose out.

Companies only offered job changers a wage rise of around 20 percent this year. This percentage used to reach up to 40% in the past. There were instances when the pay rise was between 100 and 120 percent. By 2023, things will still be the same as they were in 2007 and 2009. These two years had a significant impact on the IT industry.

AI is displacing employment as well.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, according to an HR manager of an IT business, have led to job losses. IT specialists are concerned about this. Nobody is certain when this difficult time will end. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a significant spike in the need for IT personnel. Companies also sent gifts to people, such as fancy automobiles and motorcycles. Now, however, it all seems like a dream.
