Built across 6,500 square meters, the Ayodhya airport will be officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
The opening of the Ayodhya airport, which will be further extended by extending the total area and the runway length in the second phase, is scheduled for tomorrow, according to Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who said on Friday that it would be a momentous day for the nation.
Built across 6,500 square meters, the Ayodhya airport will be officially opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
Scindia said that there would be more connection to the Ayodhya airport in the next days in an interview with PTI.
"There is tremendous potential in civil aviation capacity through the country in particular for Ayodhya, which is religiously and spiritually bonded in our hearts," he said.
He claims that the 6,500 square meter facility would be expanded to 50,000 square meters as part of the airport project's second phase. "We are extending the runway to 3,750 metres, that's enough for international flights," he said.
Over Rs 1,450 crore was spent on the development of the first phase of the Ayodhya airport. The 6,500 square meter airport terminal building can accommodate almost one million people a year.
When the prime minister opens the Ayodhya airport, tomorrow is proceeding to be a historic day for civil aviation, the city of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India, and every one of those who are committed to the vibrancy of our soul towards Hinduism as well as We believe in commitment," Scindia declared.
According to an official, a notice for the renaming of the Ayodhya airport as "Maharishi Valmiki International Airport Ayodhya Dham" is expected to be released shortly.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) released a statement on Thursday stating that the airport would increase connectivity in the area, consequently enhancing business, tourist, and job possibilities.
The airport, which has a 2,200-meter runway and is appropriate for day and night operations as well as poor visibility circumstances of more than 550 meters, was granted an aerodrome license by aviation regulator DGCA on December 14. This information was provided by the Indian Air Force. This month, the Airport Authority (AAI) made a statement.
The temple architecture of the future Shri Ram Mandir is shown on the terminal building's façade.
The terminal building's interiors are embellished with regional artwork, including paintings and murals that portray Lord Shri Ram's life. Ayodhya Airport's terminal building is outfitted with a number of eco-friendly features, including an insulated roof system, LED lighting, rainwater collection, and landscaping. Fountains, a water treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, a solar power plant, and other features are included," the announcement said on Thursday.
IndiGo had said earlier this month that on December 30, it will launch the first flight from the nation's capital to Ayodhya airport, and that on January 6, it would start offering commercial services.
