Eighth Pay Commission: The Seventh Pay Commission governs the salary of government workers. Workers in the government have been waiting a long time for the 8th Pay Commission. in order to raise the salaries of central personnel. A significant announcement on the Eighth Pay Commission has been made by the government. According to Finance Secretary TV Somanathan, before the national elections in the next year, the federal government does not intend to create the eighth pay commission for around 54 lakh workers and retirees.
According to recent sources, the Central Government intends to introduce the Eighth Pay Commission before to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In the past, ahead of elections, governments have used setting up pay commissions as an effective way to win over central government employees, armed forces personnel and family pensioners. A few months before the state and national elections, in September 2013, the Congress-led UPA administration unveiled the 7th Pay Commission.
But the BJP has decided against taking this action. Reviewing the new pension plan, which has been a point of friction for newly hired state and federal government workers, has taken precedence instead. Employees now contribute 10% of their base wage, with the government matching the remaining 14%. Political controversy has resulted in several opposition-ruled states returning to the previous pension program, which guaranteed seniors 50% of their final income each month. A committee headed by the Finance Secretary was established by the government to examine the system. "We've finished talking with everyone who was involved, and we should submit our report shortly," Somanathan said.
