Zee5 Global joins with OTT with the goal of becoming an Indian aggregator in the US and double its client base

ZEE5 reported total revenue of Rs 741 crore in FY 2022–2023—a 36% increase over the previous fiscal year—according to the company's annual report.

In an effort to increase its US subscriber base, Zee5 Global, the streaming division of media company Zee Entertainment that specializes in South Asian entertainment, is putting a number of premier platforms together under one roof.

On November 28, the platform formed partnerships with streaming services such as Oho (material in Gujarati), Chaupal (content in Punjabi, Bhojpuri, and Haryanvi), NammaFlix (content in Kannada), EPIC On Announced (Hindi), and iStream (Malayalam). Simply South offers content in South Indian languages. Zee5 Global intends to include at least six additional streaming services under its add-on functionality.

"There are a lot of Indian streamers in the United States. Additionally, there are a lot of portals with South Asian content. Thus, the concept of a single destination was born. We were able to debut a new language for the main language groups in the US when the Gujarati content platform Oho joined us. Increased linguistic content will increase audience stickiness and churn. With the introduction of the add-on, we anticipate double the user base in the US market, said Archana Anand, ZEE5 Global's chief business officer.

ZEE5 reported total revenue of Rs 741 crore in FY 2022–2023—a 36% increase over the previous fiscal year—according to the company's annual report.

According to Archana, the United States owns 57 percent of Zee5 Global's operations. Presently, the nation is ZEE5's second-biggest market after India, which means it accounts for the majority of the platform's foreign subscription income and viewership. It is projected that viewership would increase by 35% YoY in 2023.

Anand said that a popular draw for users on the network was the Oscar-winning movie RRR. Globally, OTT is dominated by cinema viewing, with enduring interest in classic blockbusters. Both cinema and television formats benefit greatly from original material, and dubbed and subtitled media is becoming more and more popular throughout the world.

Zee5 Global is providing add-ons with a $90 yearly membership that start at $1.49.

The need of the hour is to meet the rising consumer demand for compelling content and a seamless, customized experience that blends accessibility and affordability, as digital entertainment consumption and distribution patterns change across the global environment.
