The legendary Indian host Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi, who was also the Chairman Emeritus of the Oberoi Group, died suddenly early on November 14th, leaving a legacy of flawless hospitality in his wake.

The man credited with revolutionizing the Indian hotel industry is the former executive chairman of EIH Limited, the flagship company of the Oberoi Group. Oberoi has played a pivotal role in driving the establishment of Oberoi properties and Resorts, in addition to offering guidance and direction for the administration of upscale properties throughout many nations. According to the Oberoi Group website, "the Oberoi brand has come to represent fine deluxe hotels."

In January 2008, Oberoi received the second-highest civilian honor in the nation, the Padma Vibhushan. In December 2012, The Oberoi Group, one of the world's premier luxury hotel groups, was recognized for its extraordinary leadership, vision, and commitment when it was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM).

By means of reader voting from over 150 countries, HOTELS magazine named PRS Oberoi the '2010 Corporate Hotelier of the World'.
