Family members of the Sandy Hook school shooting victims in 2012 have made a repayment offer to conspiracy theorist Alex Jones in the amount of $1.5 billion (£1.32 billion).

He said that he would agree to the sale of Mr. Jones's holdings for at least $85 million (£67 million) spread over ten years.

Mr. Jones said he had repeatedly spoken falsehoods about the killings, harassing the relatives of the victims in the process.

Jones was sued by the Sandy Hook family for making false allegations, and they were awarded $1.5 billion last year.

Although Mr. Jones and his business, Free Speech Systems, have subsequently filed for bankruptcy, a judge's decision last month said that he would still be required to pay the compensation.

The latest plan was disclosed in court documents last week and would oblige Mr. Jones to give his family half of his annual income of more than $9 million (£7 million).

The family's attorneys berated Mr. Jones in the petition for "enjoying his extravagant lifestyle" after declaring bankruptcy. He said that "based on their monthly operations reports, they have spent approximately $900,000 until beginning bankruptcy proceedings."

In addition, he berated him for his continual unwillingness to sell his assets, poor record keeping, and lack of cooperation.

Vicki Driver, Mr. Jones's lawyer, did not reply to a message seeking comment.

The plaintiff said that the lawsuit "should be resolved soon" since Mr. Jones was a financial waste.

Mr. Jones disclosed in a previous bankruptcy court filing that he spends $100,000 a month, despite his claims to have over $1 million in debt.

"The time has come for Jones to make a determination whether he is willing to pay his creditors the appropriate amount of what he is owed or remain enmeshed in costly and time-consuming litigation for years to come," according to the petition. "

According to the Associated Press, Ms. Driver said in court on Monday that Mr. Jones would not be able to pay the $85 million amount and that it was an impossible sum.

For years, Mr. Jones has voiced concerns over the deadly shooting that claimed the lives of 20 pupils and 6 staff members at a suburban Connecticut school.

They created intricate conspiracies about the shooting, claiming that it was premeditated, that bereaved parents were misbehaving, and that the government was involved in the assault.

Many of the hypotheses were eventually utilized to put doubt on future mass shootings in the United States, even if they were untrue.

During his testimony in a Texas court last year, Mr. Jones acknowledged his error and described the killings as "100% real."
