According to a study presented here on November 26 by Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, output of meat, eggs, and milk has increased significantly over the previous five years, until 2022–2023. In contrast, production of wool witnessed negative development over the same time. As. During the National Milk Day ceremony here, the Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying issued the Husbandry Statistics 2023 report, which is based on the Livestock Integrated Sample Survey (March 2022 to February 2023).


Three seasons are included by the survey: summer (March–June), monsoon (July–October), and winter (November–February) throughout the nation. The predicted 230.58 million tons of milk produced in the nation in 2022–2023 is a 22.81 percent increase over the 187.75 million tonnes produced in 2018–19.

The research states that compared to the projection for 2021–2022, output in 2022–2023 grew by 3.83 percent. The previous several years' annual growth rates were 5.69 percent in 2019–20, 5.81 percent in 2020–21, 5.77 percent in 2021–22, and 6.47 percent in 2018–19. Uttar Pradesh led the state in milk production in 2022–2023 with a share of 15.72 percent, followed by Rajasthan (14.44%), Madhya Pradesh (8.73%), Gujarat (7.59%), and Andhra Pradesh (6.70%).


Karnataka is first on the list in terms of annual growth rate (AGR), having increased by 8.76 percent over the previous year. West Bengal is second with 8.65 percent, while Uttar Pradesh is third with 6.99 percent. The predicted total egg production for 2022–2023 is 138.38 billion units, a 33.31 percent increase over the 2018–19 numbers when the output was 103.80 billion units.


Compared to 2021–2022, there has been an annual growth of 6.77 percent in 2022–2023. In 2018–19, 10.19 percent, in 2019–20, 6.70 percent, in 2020–21, and 6.19 percent in 2021–22 was the yearly growth rate. With a share of 20.13 percent, Andhra Pradesh leads the country in egg production. It is followed by Tamil Nadu (15.58 percent), Telangana (12.77 percent), West Bengal (9.94 percent), and Karnataka (6.51%).


West Bengal has the greatest annual growth rate (20.10 percent), followed by Sikkim (18.93 percent) and Uttar Pradesh (12.80 percent) in terms of AGR. According to estimates, the nation would produce 9.77 million tons of meat in total in 2022–2023, up 20.39 percent from the 8.11 million tonnes produced in 2018–19.


In 2022–2023 output has grown by 5.13 percent as compared to 2021–2022. Prior growth rates for 2018–19 were 5.99%, 2019–20, 2.30, 2020–21, and 2021–22 were 5.62, and 5.98 percent, respectively. With a 12.2 percent share, Uttar Pradesh led the states in meat production, followed by West Bengal (11.93%), Maharashtra (11.50%), Andhra Pradesh (11.20%), and Telangana (11.06%).

With an AGR of 63.08 percent, Sikkim led the way, followed by Meghalaya (38.34 percent) and Goa (22.98 percent). The country's total wool output for 2022–2023 is predicted to be 33.61 million kg, representing a negative increase of 16.84 percent when compared to 40.42 million kg in 2018–19.


On the other hand, compared to 2021–2022, output grew by 2.12% in 2022–2023. Previous growth rates were -2.51% in 2018–19, -9.05 percent in 2019–20, -0.46% in 2020–21, and -10.87 percent in 2021–2022.


With a 47.98% share, Rajasthan produces the most wool, followed by Gujarat (6.01%), Himachal Pradesh (4.27%), Jammu and Kashmir (22.55%), Maharashtra (4.73%), and Gujarat (6.01%). The state of Arunachal Pradesh has the highest AGR (35.75%), followed by Rajasthan (6.06%) and Jharkhand (2.36%).
