Neymar's girlfriend and infant son survive an attempted abduction
Local media claimed on November 8 that Bruna Biancardi, the girlfriend of Brazilian football player Neymar, and their infant Maive had escaped an abduction attempt in which armed thieves broke into her home in Cotia, Sao Paulo.
When the accused broke into the residence, Biancardi and the baby were not there. The Municipal Civil Guard was cited as claiming that the suspects were armed and searching the residence premises for the two of them.
According to authorities, the thieves "tied up" Biancardi's parents and took items from the home.
The victims, who were 50 and 52 years old, were reportedly overpowered by three armed guys who broke into their home. The suspects took jewelry, watches, and handbags, according to a statement from the Sao Paulo Department of Public Security.
One suspect, a 20-year-old guy, was apprehended by the police from the group of burglars who broke into the residence after the neighbors set off a security alarm. On the other hand, the other accused was able to escape the scene.
The 20-year-old has been brought into jail for questioning, the police authorities said, adding that an operation has been begun to clamp down on individuals engaged in the event.
In an Instagram post, Biancardi acknowledged that her parents' property had been stolen, but she also expressed relief that they had not been hurt. "While material items have been retrieved, what matters most is that everyone is safe and that those who were involved are being located," she said.
Neymar also used social media to share that he was having a "sad day" because of two awful pieces of news. "Thank God, everyone is fine after Bru's parents suffered an attack," he said on social media. "The second piece of news was about his friend's passing."
