Days after Nepal was rocked by a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that left 160 people injured and 153 dead in what was considered the deadliest earthquake to strike the country since 2015.
Due to name duplication, Nepal has lowered the number of fatalities from the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the country's western regions to 153 from 157, according to PTI. 52 fatalities were recorded in the Rukum West area and 105 deaths in Jajarkot, the epicenter of the earthquake.
The district's death toll has now been updated to 101 by the Jajarkot District Administration Office. The number of fatalities in the Rukum West area remained unchanged.
Nepal is particularly susceptible to earthquakes since it is located in one of the world's most active tectonic zones (seismic zones IV and V).
