Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the England match due to personal issues after returning home

"I'll be home for a little while and then I'm coming back to win this World Cup," is what Stoinis reads in the leaked correspondence.

Star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh of Australia has been pulled out of the match against England due to personal concerns, which has caused another setback to the country's World Cup quest.

Marsh will not be playing in Saturday's match against England in Ahmedabad since he has returned home via plane to Perth. This comes after Glenn Maxwell was declared ineligible for the match on Monday due to a concussion sustained on a golf outing.

In a statement released on Thursday, Cricket Australia verified that Marsh had returned home via plane on Wednesday evening. "Australian allrounder Mitchell Marsh has returned home from the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 late last night for personal reasons," the statement said. "A timetable for his team comeback has to be verified. We will not be providing any further information at this time.

After recovering from a small calf injury that held him out of the past two matches against the Netherlands and New Zealand, Marcus Stoinis is probably able to return to the team. Cameron Green, meantime, is expected to be called up, while Marnus Labuschagne is probably going to stay in the middle order. For the match against England, Australia will only have 13 players fit; the only extra players available are Alex Carey and Sean Abbott.

On Thursday morning, Stoinis said, "He flew home late last night; he's got a family issue going on." And family is really essential, as we all know. He is acting appropriately, making his way home, and seeing the individuals he has to see. I'm not sure when he will return, but I have no doubt that he will complete his tasks at home before leaving again. I grin because yesterday night he wrote me a message stating, "I'll be home for a little bit and then I'm coming back to win this World Cup."

You will miss him just as much as we will miss him on the field in terms of his enthusiasm and charisma around the team off the field. However, the team's lineup is quite obvious, and all the bases are covered. I told him to simply hand the overs back to me, and I was grateful for that. Yes, he will return shortly, but we will still miss him. And the train continues to go.

Steven Smith will probably return to his preferred place at number three as a result of Marsh's absence. But losing Marsh and Maxwell, two of Australia's most explosive and destructive players, is a major blow to their balance as they try to secure a semifinal position against England.

Following his calf problem, Stoinis said that he hopes to be well enough to bowl ten overs, if needed. "Today [Thursday], I'll have a hard training session and put myself through my paces. Touch wood, however, I believe I'm set to go," he said. Despite his best efforts to persuade selector George Bailey and coach Andrew McDonald that he was fit to play against New Zealand in Dharamsala last week, they chose to postpone his comeback by one week.

"There's been moving parts... it hasn't been the smoothest campaign because we've gone from losing the first couple to now sitting in the top four," Stoinis said. There is a bright side to it. When the lads begin to return to the squad and things like that, it always feels nice to be getting closer to the championship. We seen that with Travis Head in the last game, so it may be a covert tool for us."
