MATCH 40: Pitch report, injury updates, playing XI, CWC Fantasy Cricket Tips, and ENG vs. NED Predictions for Dream for today's Cricket World Cup 2023

England is eliminated from the competition for the semi-finals after managing only one victory in their first seven games.

The 40th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played on Wednesday, November 8, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune between England (ENG) and the Netherlands (NED). England is now in lowest position in the standings, having only scored one victory in their previous seven games. The Netherlands has won two of their last seven games and is still in the running to make it to the semi-finals.

When England and Australia played each other last in the competition, both sides had early difficulties. Australia had just 38 runs when they lost their first two wickets, but a 75-run partnership between Steven Smith and Marnus Labuschagne stabilized the ship. Adil Rashid of England quickly removed Josh Inglis and Smith. With 71 runs, Labuschagne led Australia in scoring, followed by Cameron Green's 47. Australia scored 286 runs overall, with England's Chris Woakes claiming four wickets.

In reply, England too lost their first two wickets quickly but bounced back thanks to a partnership of 84 runs between Ben Stokes and Dawid Malan. But England kept losing wickets, and their leading scorer, Ben Stokes, finished with 64 runs. They lost by 33 runs as they were ultimately knocked out for 286 runs. With three wickets, Adam Zampa was Australia's most effective bowler. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins each got two wickets, while Marcus Stoinis collected one.

In their most recent match, the Netherlands chose to bat after winning the toss and faced Afghanistan. In the first over of play, they lost their first wicket. The Netherlands amassed 179 runs after losing the following three wickets rapidly, despite 70 more runs being scored for the second wicket by Max O'Dowd and Colin Ackermann. With three wickets, Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan was the most impressive bowler.

Afghanistan responded by scoring 55 runs in the Powerplay but losing wickets early on. With 52 runs from Rahmat Shah and 56 runs from Hashmatullah Shahidi, Afghanistan won by seven wickets in 31.3 overs. Afghanistan won because to their potent batting display.
