Joe Biden hopes to enhance relations with China when he meets with Xi Jinping in San Francisco this month. The White House has announced that US President Joe Biden will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this month in San Francisco for the APEC Leadership Summit.

"The president is excited about it. When questioned about rumors of a Biden-Xi meeting in San Francisco on Tuesday at her regular press conference, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, "And that, I think, should answer your question."

President Biden has extended an invitation to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the APEC Leadership conference. The most probable candidate to represent India in the Cabinet is a minister.

"We have been discussing it. The President expressed his excitement for his upcoming meeting with President Xi. I won't go into detail about this meeting, which is scheduled for November, since... It will take place in San Francisco. "It will be a fruitful meeting," Jean-Pierre said.

"Now, let me clarify. Our goal is for the leaders to gather in San Francisco in November and have a productive dialogue. So let me put it this way. That's what November will bring with it. We're going to have fruitful talks in San Francisco," she said.

She noted that the Biden Administration's approach to improving relations with China remains unchanged.

"You do realize that we have a fierce rivalry and that our goal is to advance with China? We are aware that fierce rivalry calls for fierce diplomacy. You're going to witness that. The president would be doing just that, she added, "and having a difficult but necessary conversation."

"I'm not going to talk about judgments taken on this, you know. This will deal with the diplomatic discussions. Approximately three secretaries have visited China and engaged in these kinds of formal discussions. Secretary Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan were seen engaging in significant and tactful discussions with their Chinese colleagues. This is a significant partnership. Once again, the issue is one of rivalry. That is what we want to see with China," Jean-Pierre said, adding that "they will be having an important diplomatic discussion."
