On November 10, SJVN Ltd said that the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) has approved the company's detailed project reports (DPRs) for two hydro projects with a combined estimated value of almost Rs 40,000 crore. Attunli hydroelectric power (HEP) is 680 MW, while Etalin HEP is 3,097 MW, according to a statement from SJVN.


The approvals of DPRs for 3,097 MW of Etalin HEP and 680 MW of Attunli HEP have been delivered to the company in favor of the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power. The validity of such concurrences has also been extended by CEA, according to the business. At the March 2022 pricing level, Etalin HEP's project cost is Rs 32,813 crore, whereas Attunli HEP's project cost is Rs 6,866 crore. The biggest hydro project being developed in the nation is the 3,097 MW Etalin HEP. In August 2023, the business and the government of Arunachal Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to carry out these five hydropower projects. These projects' DPRs are undergoing the CEA's revalidation procedure.


Upon commissioning, the Etalin HEP is expected to produce 2,814 million units of electricity and 12,752 million units of power overall. Both projects have a levelized pricing of Rs 4.51 per unit. "After the projects are completed, the state of Arunachal Pradesh will experience a period of overall socio-economic development as a result of the strengthened roads, bridges, community assets, health care services, women's empowerment, skill development, and education, as well as the creation of numerous employment opportunities and sustainable development, all while providing additional benefits to Project Associated Families," SJVN stated.
