With the use of generative AI (artificial intelligence), Google has launched new capabilities for its shopping platform that allow for quick modifications to product photos and improve the presentation of important store information to draw in prospective new consumers. US-based Google merchants may choose to identify themselves as "small business" vendors. This characteristic aids customers in recognizing independent, modest businesses that resemble mom-and-pop shops.

According to a blog post by the US-based internet giant, stores who get this certification will be clearly marked as "small businesses" on Google Maps, and their items will also have the title "small business" attached to them in Google Search results.

"The feature may be added to an account by small businesses in the US that use Merchant Center or Business Profile, including those who use Shopify's Google and YouTube apps. Examine the "business information" tab in Merchant Center, choose "details" or "about your business," and turn on the "small business" characteristic. Go to the "more" area under "edit profile" under Business Profile. In order to add qualified vendors, we're also working with Etsy," it said.

According to Google's blog post, some listings will automatically get the "small business" feature based on variables including the company's website traffic, the number of stores it has, and the variety of items it sells. If retailers so choose, they may delete these properties using the Merchant Center or Business Profile settings.

According to the tech giant, the knowledge panel that used to display information like a company's headquarters location or employee count when a user searched for a particular retailer will now display other useful shopping information like current promotions, shipping and return guidelines, customer support details, and ratings and reviews.

For merchants operating on desktop and mobile platforms, these changes are being carried out this month in a number of nations, including the US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, and Brazil.

The IT firm said that its Shopping Graph can comprehend over 35 billion listings that are obtained from several websites, guaranteeing that consumers would have access to the most current and pertinent information about seasonal discounts.

Furthermore, Google has unveiled Product Studio, an AI-powered tool that was first hinted at in May. With the help of this technology, online retailers may add visual effects to their product photos.
