Four people were detained for a short while at the Maidan police station on Tuesday for flying a Palestinian flag during the Pakistan vs. Bangladesh World Cup cricket match at Eden Gardens.

"After being questioned briefly, all four of the suspects have departed Maidan PS. They are Bally, Ekbalpore, and Karaya PS locals, according to a senior police official.

The IPS officer told PTI, "We was holding them for waving the Palestinian emblem near Gate 6 and Block G1."

According to the authorities, the captives did not shout any slogans.

"Initially, police officers stationed at Eden Gardens were unable to comprehend the protestors' activities," he said. They then raised the flag of Palestine before being taken into custody. But they didn't hold up a slogan."

The four people, who are all in their mid-twenties, seemed to have been using the international cricket match as an instrument to protest against the current Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, according to PTI, which cited sources with the Kolkata Police.
