Dhanteras 2023: Six Items You Shouldn't Purchase on This Joyful Start of Diwali Celebrations

Astrologer Pandit Jagannath Guruji advised against buying certain Dhanteras-related items in general.

Dhanteras, the festival of lights, is observed two days before to Diwali and is regarded as the auspicious start of the celebrations. On this day, people purchase brass, silver, and gold things in the belief that doing so would bring wealth and success into their life. But a lot of people also purchase items as a result of the steep discounts and special offers. Astrologer Pandit Jagannath Guruji advises against purchasing a few items on this auspicious day in order to preserve the good energy and keep negativity at bay.

1. Items made of iron or steel: According to Vedic astrology, the planet Rahu is connected to iron and steel, and this planet is considered unlucky. Buying products crafted from these metals during Dhanteras is said to draw bad luck and impede prosperity.

2. Sharp items: On Dhanteras, sharp items like as knives, scissors, or other cutting instruments are deemed unlucky. They stand for negativity, strife, and cutting connections. Bringing such items into the house at this auspicious time might sabotage prosperity by upsetting harmony and calm, the speaker added.

3. Oil, ghee, and butter: Steer clear of buying any of these products on Dhanteras as they are connected to the planet Rahu and are said to draw its unfavorable energy. Buying these goods on this fortunate day, in his opinion, might impede financial advancement and draw difficulties.

4. Wood or wooden objects: Despite being a natural substance, wood is often connected to the planet Mars, which is recognized to have both negative and positive energy. Generally speaking, it is advised against buying articles about Dhanteras. The fiery and forceful attitude of Mars together with the symbolism of wood, which represents growth and destruction, might bring instability and hinder success.

5. Aluminum or plastic-based cookware and utensils: On Dhanteras, use classic brass, copper, or silver utensils rather than aluminum or plastic ones. According to Jagannath Guruji, "plastic is not considered auspicious in Vedic astrology, while aluminum is considered an unstable metal that may have restlessness and anxiety."

6. Gifts for others: Although it makes sense to spread the joy, Dhanteras is customarily a day to concentrate on attracting wealth into your own household. "Avoid purchasing presents for other people on this day as it may detract from your own financial objectives and impede your success. In the long term, it is seen to be more advantageous to concentrate on your financial well-being at this auspicious period, according to Jagannath Guruji.
