Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, attacked the administration in response to a media report that said rising costs for sugar, lentils, and onions had affected family budgets over the holiday season.


The Congress, taking aim at the Center over the "skyrocketing" costs of necessities, said on Wednesday that the electorate is prepared for a shift in the 2024 elections and that an INDIA bloc government would swiftly alter the measures that are driving up inflation.


Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress, attacked the administration in response to a media report that said rising costs for sugar, lentils, and onions had affected family budgets over the holiday season.


"The festivals that bring enjoyment are also increasing the worries of the citizens under the Modi government," Ramesh claimed in his Hindi post on X. when the cost of every necessary item is soaring."


"The price of onions has risen by over 90% and is almost at a hundred. "In just one year, the cost of arhar dal has gone up by 40% to Rs 152," he said.


However, he said that because this is the final Diwali, individuals are dealing with similar issues as a result of price increases. In 2024, the public is ready for change because they are tired of current administration. The policies that are driving up inflation and helping the buddy of the prime minister would be changed immediately by the INDIA bloc administration, Ramesh said, offering comfort to the ordinary people.


The Congress has been criticizing the administration for how it is managing the economy and voicing worries about "increasing" joblessness and inflation.
