Cash-for-query case: Mahua Moitra rejects the accusation of bribery and attributes it to Dehadrai's ill will

While some BJP members, like V D Sharma, wanted her to address the substance of the allegations and not make it all about a romantic connection gone sour, she received support from some opposition MPs in the meeting, which involves Danish Ali of the BSP as well as N Uttam Kumar Reddy of the Congress.

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday pleaded innocent to the "cash-for-query" allegations leveled against her and told the committee in question that the charge is motivated by advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai's animosity after she broke her personal relationships with him, sources said. She received support from some opposition MPs, including N Uttam Kumar Reddy of the Congress along with Danish Ali of the BSP.

While some BJP members, like V D Sharma, wanted her to address the substance of the allegations and not make it all about a personal relationship gone sour, she received support from some opposition MPs in the meeting, which include Danish Ali of the BSP along with N Uttam Kumar Reddy of the Congress.

According to sources, she seemed to hold Dehadrai responsible for the claims and leaks, and a significant portion of her testimony before the Lok Sabha's Ethics Committee focused on their connection.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey complained against Dehadrai, citing her submission, to Speaker Om Birla of the Lok Sabha, who sent the case to the committee. At the request of businessman Darshan Hiranandani, Moitra is suspected of having asked questions that were typed in using her parliamentary account in exchange for money and favors from the well-known business family's scion stationed in Dubai.

In her statements to the media, Moitra acknowledged that she had given Hiranandani her login details. She has long since called Hiranandani a close friend, but she has ruled out any financial motivation and insisted that the inquiries were always hers. Because she has been vocal in her criticism of the corporate behemoth, the Trinamool Congress MP has said that the Adani Group is the source of the "bogus" claims.
