 Beginning on November 16, Bengaluru Metro will allow smartphone QR tickets for up to six people


BMRCL introduced QR code ticketing in November 2022, allowing users to buy single-journey transit tickets using mobile applications. However, a number of factors caused a delay in group passenger QR-code ticketing.

Passengers on the Bengaluru Metro may utilize a single QR ticket for up to six people starting on November 16.


At the moment, individual travelers may purchase QR tickets for their trip using smartphone apps (Namma Metro, Paytm, WhatsApp, and Yatra).


"Depending on demand, BMRCL will begin offering mobile QR tickets on November 16, 2023, to enable family/group travel for up to six people. A five percent rate reduction is offered for mobile QR tickets, according to BMRCL Chief Public Relations Officer BL Yashwanth Chavan.


"The traveler using this service will be given a single QR ticket that is encrypted with the total number of travelers. Each group member must scan this QR ticket once in order to enter and depart, according to Chavan.


"Passengers are invited to book mobile QR tickets in advance at a time that suits them from their homes/offices to prevent themselves from queuing at the ticketing stands for token purchase," he said.


BMRCL launched QR code ticketing in November 2022, enabling users to purchase single-journey transit tickets using the Namma Metro smartphone app and WhatsApp. It was announced that WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is the first platform to provide QR ticketing.


Bhagya, a WhatsApp chatbot (+191 8105556677) that speaks Kannada and English, helps travelers see fare tables, transport schedules, and reload their smart cards, among other things.


The introduction of QR ticketing for group passengers was originally scheduled by BMRCL, however it was postponed for a number of reasons.
