The official claimed that it would extend its worldwide route network by launching the first non-stop flights from Mumbai to Melbourne, Australia, during today's announcement. Beginning on December 15, 2023, Air India will operate three weekly flights between Mumbai and Melbourne. Air India will thereafter be the only airline operating nonstop flights between Mumbai and Australia after this.

Air India's Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, with 238 roomy seats in economy and 18 flat beds in business class, will fly the route between Mumbai and Melbourne.
