AI Models Developed To Stop Abuse of the GRE and TOEFL
Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven models have been created by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) to identify irregularities and cheating in online Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) tests. To find irregularities in applicants' test-taking habits, ETS employs voice, face, and typing pattern recognition. With permission to administer the GRE and TOEFL internationally, the organization has an Office of Testing Integrity (OTI) whose job it is to examine each test for anomalies and possible instances of cheating. Test security is improved by feeding the detection model with observations from many sources. The goal of ETS's work is to keep these important tests honest.
