According to Vikrant Massey, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's film "12th Fail" has been nominated for an Oscar as an independent submission.

According to India Today, Bollywood star Vikrant Massey has learned that the independently nominated film "12th Fail," which was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, has been submitted for an Oscar. 

When Vikrant Massey announced that "12th Fail" had been submitted to the Oscars as an independent submission from India, he was speaking at the Sahitya AajTak 2023 event. 

Vidhu Vinod Chopra is the producer, writer, and director of the Hindi-language biographical drama film 12th Fail, which is set to release in 2023. It is based on Anurag Pathak's 2019 nonfiction book of the same name, which tells the true tale of Manoj Kumar Sharma, an Indian Police Service officer who overcome abject poverty to become an officer.

On October 27, the film was made available in theaters. The film was released in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi. 

The female protagonist in the movie is played by Medha Shankar, with Vikrant Massey portraying Manoj.

On a budget of ₹20 crore (US$2.5 million), 12th Fail made over ₹55 crore (US$6.9 million) after earning critical accolades and becoming a surprise smash.

Indian actor Vikrant Massey performs in both television and Hindi movies.

Following his graduation from RD National College, Massey worked in television serials like Dharam Veer (2008), Balika Vadhu (2009–2010), and Qubool Hai (2013) before making his acting debut in Dhoom Machaao Dhoom (2007). With supporting parts in Lootera (2013), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), and Half Girlfriend (2017), Massey branched out into movies.

As for the 2024 Oscars, Variety has revealed that Jimmy Kimmel, the winner of the Emmy Award, will once again serve as host. This will be the late-night star's fourth time presenting the program.

Raj Kapoor, Katy Mullan, and Hamish Hamilton will serve as executive producers for this year's celebration of accomplishments in cinema. Variety said that Kapoor would also function as the showrunner. 

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, the Dolby Theatre will host the 96th Academy Awards.
