X releases a feature for voice and video calling; here's how to utilize it

Previously known as Twitter, Elon Musk's X now offers voice and video calling capabilities. These capabilities are currently exclusive to X Premium (Twitter Blue) subscribers on iOS. However, X intends to make them available to Android users shortly.

"We're launching an innovative form of communication on X, Audio and Video Calling," X said in a statement on the site. Android users will soon be able to use audio and video calling, which is already accessible on iOS."

Interestingly, calls will still come in even if you utilize X for free. You may adjust your Direct Messaging settings to control who can call you. Calls from individuals you follow or have in your address book are automatically received. However, there is a requirement that both parties have sent each other at least one direct message before they may speak on the phone.

On X, how do I initiate a call?

Access your direct messages now.

Select an existing conversation or start a new one.

Press the phone icon.

Choose "Audio call" or "Video call" by touching the appropriate icons.

The person you contact will get a notice, and they will also receive a notification if they choose not to answer.

Musk said in August that X would be able to make and receive audio and video conversations. This is a step toward repurposing the outdated Twitter app. Mac laptops, iPhones, Android phones, and standard PCs can all use these functions. To utilize them, you won't need a phone number.

Limit who is able to contact you

To adjust your X calling choices, do the following actions: To access your messages, first hit the envelope symbol. Next, to access your Messages settings, press the settings symbol located in the upper right corner. You may decide whether or not to use the voice and video calling capability by adjusting these options. You choose who may call you, including contacts in your address book, accounts you follow, and verified users, if you want to activate it.
