Comparing the box office receipts of Leo and Jailer, it can be seen that Leo made ₹489.15 crore globally in ten days after opening, while Jailer took home ₹477.90 crore.

According to cinema trade expert Sumit Kadel, three out of the five most grossing films are directed by Tamil filmmakers: Atlee, who directed Jawan; Nelson, who directed Jailer; and Lokesh Kanagaraj, who directed Leo.

Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Leo made ₹283.8 crore net in India over the course of 10 days, whereas Jailer made ₹307.9 crore in nine days after its release. Leo made ₹11.9 crore on its tenth day of release in theaters across all languages, whereas Jailer brought in ₹19.4 crore.

In the first seven days of its release, Thalapathy Vijay's film Leo brought in ₹264.27 crore net in India, whereas Rajinikanth's Jailer brought in ₹276.7 crore.

Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, made ₹64.8 crore on its opening day on October 19, while Jailer, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, debuted on August 9 and brought in ₹56.6 crore. Both films had a strong start at the box office.

Leo broke all previous records with a massive opening day gross of ₹148.50 crore at the worldwide box office, making it the largest opening for a Tamil film in both the local and overseas markets. Jailer, which made ₹96.60 crore on its opening day at the worldwide box office, is the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023 and the third-highest-grossing Indian film of the same year. Jailer holds the record for being the highest-grossing Tamil film ever at the international box office.

With Vijay Chandrasekhar in the starring role, the cast of Leo also features Sanjay Dutt, Priya Anand, Trisha Krishnan, and Gautham Vasudev Menon. With Rajinikanth playing the major role, the cast of Jailer includes Tamanna Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Shivarajkumar, Sunil Varma, Yogi Babu, as well as Vasanth Ravi.
