Wagh Bakri's heir Death of Parag Desai: "National task force needed," says P Chidambaram, calling for action on the stray dog problem

On Tuesday, Congress leader Karti P. Chidambaram urged the creation of a national task group to address the problem of stray dogs as soon as possible. This occurred when Parag Desai, a descendant of Wagh Bakri, passed away from a brain hemorrhage while attemptingto flee from attacking street dogs.

Chidambaram said, "We need a national task force to address the #StrayDogs issue immediately," in a post on X (previously Twitter). It requires both a scientific and ethical approach. It is useless to expect the local administrative officials to handle this with their current equipment. I called the @PMOIndia's attention to the gravity and urgency.

The Wagh Bakri Tea Group, which owns the Wagh Bakri tea brand, lost its executive director, Parag Desai, 49, on Sunday. His wife Vidisha and daughter Parisha are still alive.

On October 15, while attempting to flee street dogs that had attacked him, Desai collapsed in front of his home and had a cerebral bleed, according to an article in the Ahmedabad Mirror.

Desai was taken urgently to the neighboring Shelby Hospital for treatment after a security officer informed the family of the occurrence. After a day of observation, he was sent to Zydus Hospital for operation, according to reports.

According to reports cited by The Times of India, Desai died away in a private hospital in Ahmedabad on October 22 after spending seven days on a ventilator.

Today at 9:00 am, his last rites were performed in the Thaltej cremation, according to the AM report.
