Unveiling of the next Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB, which will make its debut in India in 2019

The most recent version of the E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) from Mercedes-Benz has been unveiled in China, offering more comfort and legroom for this well-liked luxury sedan. In order to appeal to a global audience, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sixth generation was launched earlier this year.

However, the most recent E-Class LWB, internally known as V214, will only be offered in a few regions. Notably, Mercedes-Benz supplies the long-wheelbase version of the E-Class in India, thus its release is especially noteworthy for that market, according to HT Auto. The E-Class LWB was originally sold in right-hand drive markets in India.

With 5,092 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,493 mm in height, new 2024 the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB has a 3,094 mm wheelbase. It is 18 mm longer and 20 mm wider than its predecessor, with the 18 mm length increase being mostly attributable to the 15 mm larger wheelbase.

The most recent Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB looks quite similar to the conventional wheelbase model from the outside. The expanded rear door, which deviates from the rear door design with an integrated rear window and features a quarter glass positioned behind it, is the most obvious difference.

Additionally, the E-Class LWB's expanded wheelbase adds to more legroom and knee room while maintaining the same interior finishes and equipment as the normal model. The motorized reclining rear seats with an ottoman function seen in the China-specific model are anticipated to be available in the Indian model as well.

The sedan also has a system of ambient lighting that surrounds the back seats. A "Boss" button allows the passenger in the back seat to move and fold the front passenger seat for more space, and the rear headrests also have a neck heating feature. Wireless charging stations with space for two phones are installed in the rear center armrest.

The sedan's interior is equipped with the Superscreen, which comprises of three integrated screens: a 12.2-inch digital console, a 14.4-inch infotainment system, and a third screen reserved for the passenger. It is unknown whether this function would be accessible in the Indian market. Technology is prioritized heavily in the new E-Class, which uses the third-generation MBUX operating system. The international version automates some comfort-related tasks using artificial intelligence.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB will have a six-cylinder petrol engine in China, while the six-cylinder diesel, notably the 350d, is anticipated to be the popular choice in India. The manufacturer will also offer a four-cylinder petrol engine, while lower-level models will have a four-cylinder diesel alternative. Air suspension and a rear-wheel steering system that can move the rear wheels by up to 4.5 degrees are further advantages of the E-Class LWB. In the second half of 2024, the new-generation E-Class LWB is anticipated to enter the Indian market.
