 Today's global markets: Following dovish remarks from Fed and ECB leaders, world equities rise as bond rates drop


current global markets: Following dovish remarks from US Federal Reserve and European Central Bank officials, bond rates fell on Tuesday, which helped propel global shares higher.


The global stock market index MSCI increased by 1.42%.


A day after spikes on hostilities between the Israeli military and the Palestinian organization Hamas, crude oil prices began to decline.


Brent crude was trading at $87.42, down 0.83%, while the US crude oil benchmark was down 0.81% at $85.68 a barrel.


Israel launched its deadliest airstrikes into the Gaza Strip in its 75-year struggle with the Palestinians on Tuesday, defying Hamas' vow to kill a hostage for every house struck.


US treasuries and euro zone bonds with a longer maturity date also gained.


U.S. stock

After Federal Reserve officials said on Monday that rising yields on long-term US government bonds would prevent the central bank from raising interest rates further in the near future, US market indexes rose on Tuesday.


The S&P 500 increased by 0.8% during afternoon trade. 189 points, or 0.6%, were added to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Nasdaq composite increased by 0.8%.


By late Friday, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note was down to 4.65% from 4.80%. The 2-year Treasury yield decreased from 5.09% to 4.97%.


Europe

As dovish remarks from European Central Bank (ECB) governors boosted investors' confidence, European markets strongly recovered on Tuesday.


The pan-European STOXX 600 gained 2%, the most in a single day in over a year.


The FTSE 100 in Britain increased 1.8% to 7,628.21. The German DAX increased 2% to 15,423.52. The CAC 40 in France increased 2% to 7,162.43.


Tuesday saw gains throughout most of the Asian financial markets.


The Hang Seng Index for Hong Kong increased 0.8% to 17,664.73. Shanghai Composite dropped 0.7% to 3,075.24 in China.


Nikkei 225 of Japan gained 2.4% to close at 31,746.53.


The S&P/ASX 200 index for Australia finished 1% higher. The benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index for New Zealand increased by 0.8%.
