In order to be among the first to purchase one of Apple's newest cellphones, customers lined up in China, Europe, and the US on Friday as the company's iPhone 15 series went on sale.

Prior to the launch, experts at companies like Wedbush Securities have stated that pre-orders for the iPhone 15 are tracking far better than initially anticipated, with significant demand for its premium iPhone 15 Pro products, particularly the Pro Max. For a number of Pro models, delivery and shipment dates have been moved to late October to mid-November.

The release of the new iPhones coincides with Apple's third consecutive quarter of declining sales. Due to fewer device updates, iPhone revenue for the quarter came in at $39.7 billion, representing a 2% year-over-year reduction.

Wedbush believes that over 250 million iPhones have been in use for more than four years without an upgrade. This year, consumers might finally upgrade due to improvements made to the CPU and camera system, as well as discounts from cell carriers.

Starting prices for the iPhone 15 Pro are $1,099 and $1,199, respectively. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, Apple's entry-level iPhones, are priced at $799 and $899, respectively.

A more sophisticated 48 megapixel main camera with a bigger sensor and a new telephoto lens for a 5x optical zoom camera, exclusively on the iPhone 15 Pro Max, are other design modifications on the premium variants. The design of the new Pro versions also has curved edges and a customisable Action button that adds further functionality to the ring/silence button, such as the ability to record voice memos or create notes. White, black, natural, and blue are the four color options for the Pro range.

Meanwhile, enhanced image stabilization for taking photographs and videos, 2x optimization, and upgraded portraits with richer color and better low-light performance are now included in the entry-level iPhone 15 phones. They will also include the "Dynamic Island" function, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and houses alerts, notifications, and other controls in place of the notch.

A few new features, such as one that makes it simpler to locate friends who share their position in busy situations, are powered by an Ultra-Wideband chip that is also part of the iPhone 15 series.

The iPhone 15 is available in two sizes and five colors: white, black, pink, green, and yellow. The iPhone 15 has a 6.1-inch screen, while the iPhone 15 Pro has a 6.7-inch screen.

A significant development toward universal charging

The adoption of a USB-C charging cable by the iPhone 15 models, which ends an 11-year run with Apple's exclusive Lightning charging cable, is arguably the largest shift.

Customers of Apple can no longer struggle to find the correct charger for each gadget because they can now power their Mac computers, iPhones, and iPads with the same USB-C chargers. According to Apple, the iPhone 15 Pro will support up to 20 times quicker transfer rates than USB-2 technology thanks to a dedicated USB-C controller.

The changeover occurs less than a year after the European Union approved regulations requiring USB-C charging capabilities for smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, portable speakers, and other small devices by 2024. The first-of-its-kind rule seeks to reduce the amount of cords and chargers that consumers must deal with when they buy a new item and to permit users to mix and match devices and chargers even if they were made by different manufacturers.

Additionally, Apple is offering a $29 USB-C Lightning adaptor that enables users to charge or transfer data from their current Lightning accessories to an iPhone or iPad that supports USB-C.

According to the firm, its in-store recycling program allows iPhone owners to recycle their used Lightning charges.
