Record-breaking SIP inflows of Rs 16,402 crore and virtually doubled ETF contributions

Both experienced and novice investors have taken notice of this significant increase in SIP inflows. The investors' persistent discipline ensured that the investing instruments remained popular for a long period.

According to statistics from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI), the amount of money flowing into Systemic Investment Plans (SIPs) hit a new high of Rs 16,402 crore in September, surpassing the previous record of Rs 15,814 crore set last month.

Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) had the biggest gains as inflows increased from Rs 1,863 crore to Rs 3,243 crore month over month. Contributions to dividend and ELSS funds also increased to Rs 255 and Rs 141 billion, respectively, while corporate bond funds suffered losses of Rs 2,460 and Rs 111 billion.

For the 31st month running, equity mutual funds had net inflows in September. Even though there was a little decline from August, the inflow, at Rs 13,857 crore, remained solid. While largecap funds had withdrawals, midcap and smallcap funds saw positive inflows. Midcap funds saw a fall from Rs 2,512 crore to Rs 2,001 crore, while smallcap funds saw a decrease from Rs 4,265 crore to Rs 2,678 crore in September.

In contrast to the previous month's inflow of Rs 1,755 crore, corporate bond funds experienced an outflow of Rs 2,460 crore in September.

Both experienced and novice investors have taken notice of the significant increase in total SIP inflows. Because investors consistently exercised discipline, the investing instruments were popular for a very long period. People continued to employ these funds' methodical approach even as the value of stocks increased.

Instead of making a lump sum, one-time investment, mutual funds provide the SIP investing mechanism, which allows a person to deposit a predetermined amount in a preferred plan again at set intervals, such as once a month. The monthly installment might be as little as Rs. 500.
