Rajasthan will perform a caste-based census similar to that in Bihar, according to CM Ashok Gehlot

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, declared on Friday that the state will carry out a caste-based census similar to the one that was done in Bihar. After a state party meeting in Jaipur, he made his comments while addressing the media.

Speaking before the media, the chief minister of Rajasthan said, "We will conduct this caste census on the basis of the mechanism established by Congressman Rahul Gandhi at the Congress conference in Raipur. Like Bihar, the government of Rajasthan will likewise carry out a caste census. We'll use the idea that everyone should participate in accordance with their population. On the model of Bihar, caste-based census instructions would be provided.

Gehlot emphasized the need of a caste-based census, saying, "When we speak about social security, it can only be done when we know what the situation is caste-wise. There are several castes in the nation, each of which does a variety of occupations. Once we know how many members each caste has, we may create particular programs for them.

The findings of the caste-based survey done in Bihar was previously made public by the Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan government on October 2. After the census results were announced, Prime Minister Modi said that the opposition party had divided the nation along caste lines for 60 years and was still doing so now. He called this a "sin" that it was continuing to perpetrate.

Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Congress, previously stated at a rally in the heavily contested Shajapur district of Madhya Pradesh that if his party won the national government, it would conduct a caste-based census to help the country's Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

A caste census would be undertaken in the state, similar to the one that was done in Bihar, according to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who made the claim earlier in Chhattisgarh on Friday.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said during a public gathering in Kanker, Chhattisgarh, which is close to the election, "I announce that if Congress repeats government in Chhattisgarh, then we will also hold a caste census in the state, like we did in Bihar."

According to statistics from a caste study issued by the Bihar government, the Other Backward Class (OBC) and Extremely Backward Class (EBC) combined make up 63% of the state's population.
