Oct. 26–27, Delhi may experience severe water supply interruptions owing to connectivity construction

On October 26 and 27, 2023, there will be severe water supply interruptions in several areas of Delhi.

According to Times Now, connecting work on the 1100 mm dia West Delhi Main at Shakarpur would cause disruptions to the water delivery. The report further said that on October 25, the water supply in the region was interrupted because a 600 mm dia flowmeter was installed on a 700 mm CI output pipe at Burari. On Wednesday, the water supply in the neighborhood and its surrounding regions was disrupted for around 12 hours until it was recovered late that evening.

Raja Garden, Ramesh Nagar, Moti Nagar, Subhash Nagar, Varun Niketan, Tihar Village, Uttam Nagar, Rajouri Garden, and surrounding neighborhoods are among the impacted regions.

If you have problems with water pressure or water cuts, you may contact the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) via three helplines.

The main DJB hotline is 1916. Residents of the Punjabi Bagh area may contact 011-25223658, residents of Shivaji Complex can call 011-25193140, and residents of Paschim Vihar and the surrounding regions can call 011-25281197 to lodge concerns about the water supply.

"Due to reconnection the work of 1100 mm dia west Delhi Main at Shakurpur, the drinking water supply in the subsequent colonies/areas will not be available/available at the reduced pressure in the evening of and morning of October 27, 2023," said DJB in a post on X (previously Twitter).

Water outages in the Raghubir Nagar neighborhood were previously reported by DJB on October 15 due to replacement work. The authorities had said, "Due to replacement of 900 mm dia Khyala Branch at Najafgarh Drain near Raghubir Nagar, the water supplied in the following colonies/areas is unlikely to be available/available at the low pressure in the early hours of 15.10.2023 and evening of 15.10.2023."

It is recommended that residents stock up on enough water ahead of time, depending on their needs. DJB said that a water tanker would be accessible upon request.
