 Kundara Johny, a Malayalam actor, passes away at age 71 after a heart attack


Noted Actor Kundara Johny from Malayalam movies died of a heart attack at a private hospital in Kollam, according to PTI. He was 71. The FEFKA Directors' Union said on Facebook that he had a heart attack on Tuesday night and was taken to the hospital immediately.


The late actor Johny Joseph is survived by his wife Stella, a professor at a college in Kollam who went by the stage name Kundara Johny.


Johny appeared in more than 500 films during the course of his more than four-decade-long career, Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal said while expressing condolences on the actor's passing.


In Malayalam movies, Johny was renowned for his powerful portrayals of villains. At the age of 23, Johny made his acting debut as a character who was 55 years old in the 1979 Malayalam film Nithya Vasantham.


His last film, Meppadiyan, was released in 2022.


He also worked on Tamil movies like Nadigan and Vaazhkai Chakram.


Among many more, the films he has also appeared in include "Godfather," "Inspector Balram," "Aavanazhi," "Rajavinte Makan," "Oru CBI Diary Kurippu," "Kireedom," "Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha," "Samooham," "Chenkol," "Aaraam Thampuran," and "Varnapakittu."
